Bacon “Bugs on a Log” — Bacon Bits, Nut Butter & Celery

I decided I needed to experiment with the marriage of bacon and a nut butter. I’ll confess, I’m not much of a photographer, so the picture doesn’t do it much justice.

I wanted to just dunk a strip of bacon in my almond butter. Not exactly dignified, but don’t think I’m beyond doing it. Fortunately, I remembered the “ants on a log” approach. But I knew I could do one better (butter?).

How did I know? Because bacon trumps raisins.

In fact, bacon trumps everything. Including ham-pickle rollups, world peace, and Kim Kardashian’s b….aby.

Also, we all know that celery is just the excuse vehicle for eating delicious nut butters. It’s ok. You’re about to add bacon, anyway.

Here’s to one of my favorite snacks, bacon-ized:

“BUGS ON A LOG”

INGREDIENTS

  • Bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • Nut butter (I used almond)
  • Celery, cut into approx 4″ pieces

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Spread the nut butter on the celery.
  2. Drop some bacon bits on top.
