Mushrooms, particularly shiitakes, have that highly praised “umami” flavor.

And then there’s bacon. Which — let’s be honest here — pretty much puts the “super” in superfood. And is its own flavor category.

Clearly, shiitakes and bacon are an epic combination.

Oh, and tasty.  🙂

Bacon-Roasted Shiitake Mushrooms


  • 1 pkg shiitake mushrooms
  • 2-4 tbsp bacon grease


  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Spread mushrooms in a small baking dish, single layer.
  3. Melt bacon grease and drizzle over mushrooms.
  4. Roast in oven approx 30 minutes, or until mushrooms are dark and tender.
