How to Cook Bacon Video – “You’re Doing it All Wrong”

I find bacon purists amusing. Like this one from Chow, informing us so seriously on how to cook bacon “the right way.”

For the record … I’d still eat the bacon he says is cooked “the wrong way.”

In my house, we don’t waste the bacon!

My favorite part? “Never drain the bacon grease.”

Obvi.

  1. My love for bacon is pretty unconditional. I agree with you, I’d still eat and love the bacon cooked the wrong way.

  2. there is no wrong way to cook bacon!

  3. Em Halforbes says:

Madness. All bacon is good. It is never bad (unless it’s off). Eat the bacon!

  4. rosekat08 says:

Heh, he said “flaccid” and “lubricated”. I love bacon, but for breakfast I don’t think I can wait 20 minutes. I honestly like mine a little burnt. His right bacon does look pretty though.

  5. Shara says:

Hmm… I could be doing it all wrong, but I just love a little bit of the chewy bits in bacon.

I’ve nuked it for the last two weeks (heavy work schedule) usually around jalapeno-cheese stuffed mushrooms. (I like what I like…) or microwaved, or pan cooked on high heat.

But today, when we were broke, and I’ve already worked all that they would allow me to this week… and I thought we were almost out of food besides frozen chicken breasts and canned green beans… I found a package with 3 pieces of bacon in my fridge (Heavenly angel choir sings: “Ahhhhh”.)\

I wanted to cook it to the BEST of my ability. Sorry,. we’re broke, so this was a TREASURE! I cooked it over low/medium heat, flipping frequently until it looked just right and the conclusion that I came to:
OMG. I have been WASTING bacon! There IS a way to cook it right, and anything worth doing is worth doing right. If you want that satisfying crunch/almost SLIGHTLY chewy taste, cook it low and flip it frequently. I’ve already had 2 of the 3 pieces…. and I’m already in bacon heaven.

Off to enjoy the last perfectly cooked piece.
