Prosciutto Wrapped Pickles - "Turtles in a Blanket"

Prosciutto Wrapped Pickles – “Turtles in a Blanket”

Turtle, turtle!

It’s the cutest way to eat bacon.

The pickle turtle gives it the “ohh, how cute” factor, and the prosciutto gives it the “la dee da, how fancy” factor.

Which is perfect for the number of baby showers I anticipate attending in the near future. I think everyone’s having babies at the same time (no, not me).

I figure both moms and babies like bacon, as do the other bridal shower attendants, so it’s a clear win-win-win.

I thought about using little cocoa nibs as turtle eyes … but overtly personifying my food weirds me out.

Also, if you’re feeling cheese-y, you could spread some cream cheese on the prosciutto before wrapping the pickle up in it.

Prosciutto Wrapped Pickles

– “Turtles in a Blanket”

INGREDIENTS:

  • prosciutto
  • baby pickles

(optional)

  • cream cheese
  • cocoa nibs or other little food specs that work as eyes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Slice prosciutto into long strips – 4+ inches long, shorter in width than your pickles.ย Spread cream cheese on prosciutto, if desired.
  2. Place pickle at one end of prosciutto and roll up.
  3. Stick in a toothpick to secure.
  4. Add two little turtle eyes, if desired.

Enjoy!
