Bacon Asparagus

Bacon Asparagus

I like most vegetab-evils. But I can’t say asparagus will ever be one my favs.

Which is why there is bacon, yes?

If you or someone you know needs to eat more veggies, drizzle them in bacon grease! And sprinkle crumbled bacon bits on top.

That way, you won’t have to use the “airplane” or the “yer not getting down from the table till yer plate’s clean” rule on yourself.

But. Just so you know…

The bacon won’t cover up the weird pee smell caused by the asparagus.

You’re still gonna hafta deal with that one.

  • 2-4 tbsps bacon grease
  • 1-2 tbsps fresh lemon juice
  • raw asparagus spears
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • (optional) Crumbled bacon

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. While oven is preheating, spoon bacon grease into small glass bowl and melt in oven, just until liquid.
  3. Spread asparagus spears in a baking dish or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Mix lemon juice into melted bacon grease.
  5. Drizzle mixture over asparagus spears, then stir the asparagus around to coat more evenly. Sprinkle with salt & pepper, to taste.
  6. Bake till soft, 20-30 minutes, depending on how wilted you like it!  😉
  7. Garnish with crumbled bacon, if desired.
